Consciousness, an illusion

Consciousness; is it an illusion?

After all, we are physical beings, driven by a physical brain.

So how comes a software embedded in the brain connecting us with the outside world?

Who feeds the program into the hardware?

How can a physical brain help us to experience the world?

what if the software gets corrupted?
what if the hardware breaks down?
what to do when the entire system becomes obsolete?
what if the outside world rejects the signals from the ‘physical brain’?
what if the outside world itself is just an illusion?
    what if ……

Evolution will proceed and artificial intelligence will make the human race unnecessary. We need food and sleep , we need to breathe oxygen and a reasonable temperature to exist. We have a life span but artificial intelligence will be immortal . This supposes we overcome the present difficulties of climate and antibiotic resistance. If we fail we will return to the dark ages.

Yes, such questions drive us crazy. We realize that everything around us is to distract us from the reality.

Consciousness is real and everything else is Maya. We see outside world the way our senses experience it not the way it is in real. So we all have different points of view because our way of sensing things is different. Consciousness is about seeking within and decrypting the encrypted hidden knowledge in our brains. But our world have become so materialistic and selfish that the knowledge has been lost. There is no peace in the world as all stand on their own point of view and argue it to be the truth, where as it is just the partial truth.

Have a great day, Akhila. .

exactly.. we never have that eye to see the real truth..or rather we simply assume what we visualize to be the reality.

Yes Akhila. . You got my point here. We all believe that, what we see is reality and assume it to be the only truth.

        Have a great day. 🙂

    a theory of my own…
there is a soul, which drives the mind to percieve, then only we can see and reason, computers don’t have this ability

It has to be something that is unmoved yet capable of driving other things..otherwise the question will go on.

Very nice post Akhila. Conscious is an illusion. But the day we realize who we are then conscious becomes a reality and that is what we all are. Then that consciousness merges into Oneness. Your post requires a big explanation so now let it be and enjoy your own beautiful consciousness as a physical being. Loved your aptly putting across.

Thanks kamal…but i don’t think that i can no longer stay in this conscious world, as some alien is pulling me towards an unconscious world

Ya it happens with all of us Akhila but our beautiful consciousness pulls us out. We are all in this dream world waiting to go back to our true consciousness.

Excellent discussion! Consciousness is not an illusion, it’s the other way round. Consciousness creates matter. We are its materialisation/ manifestation in space and time. Now it doesn’t mean we are some finished product of the soul, merely one kind of it’s various kinds of manifestations, like branches spanning out in all directions but being part of the same tree structure.

From what I understand, our spirit exists in many dimensions of existence simultaneously. One part of the spirit could be human, another an energy form without physical structure and yet in another something completely different. I can’t do justice to the subject here, honestly, but if it interests you, please do read the very first post I wrote. It called… yup you got it…. Consciousness!

My brain got fried thinking of the questions and the answers. Isn’t that we both have conscious and unconscious mind, both controlled and uncontrolled? And despite of this “physical brain”, we also have natural behaviors and reactions, impulses, drive, heart and soul.

Definitely not illusion. Look around and you will find people unaware about their goals motives and surroundings. Consciousness is a link I will say, between you and your surrounding which finally leads to to the realisation that everything is just inside you. It’s all about decoding life .

$64,000,000 questions (used to be $64,000 but that’s inflation for you!) … been interested by recent scientific thinking that conscious behaviour can be passed on to future generations, making evolution a little less random than previously supposed …

    Ah yes, the matrix hypothesis.
As a Christian, I do feel that there’s some kind of untouchable dimension to our lives – heaven thank you.
I don’t believe that the material realm encompasses our entire existence, because if it did…well, it kind of sucks.
It means there’s a ceiling to human understanding, and it means there’s nothing beyond the world as we know it. Life loses its mystique and renders your existence mute.

      1. Nam H Nguyen

To break the ceiling between the world we know and the world we don’t?
That’s not necessarily a good thing..regardless, consciousness is a question that has zero impact on how we our lives. Letting it affect you would be like…letting the knowledge that the world will end in two hundred years will affect you.

100 per cent it is. We are living in a world of illusion. What is today isn’t there tomorrow. Sadly fantasy is termed illusion whilst it gives the most realistic pleasure.

I suspect that our brain is more of a filter and a gatekeeper than the seat of our consciousness. Is main purpose could be to keep us focused on immediate physical survival and shield us from making a greater connection to our greater self on the level of spiritual awareness. I am just starting to work on my next book, tentatively titled “Transformational Awakening.” As I continue my blog will be shifting towards topics like spirituality and consciousness, if anyone is interested in such topics I reviewed Wayne Dyer’s “Manifest Your Destiny” recently…

I know thought about that, too.
Our brain is so powerful that it can actually trick us so we have to be full on conscious to make sure we’re in control all the time… speaking of which is why we need to realize that mental health maintenance is as important as physical health maintenance.

Actually, I think that most people think that the signs of consciousness ARE an illusion, which is WHY so many of us are out of touch. We are told that our creativity, synchronicity, visions, etc are just coincidence or delusion…. when in fact, that is our consciousness attempting to emerge.

I liked your views. Infact if we could read the signs around us, from the nature, things will appear pretty clearly

Of course there is an exit but that is all for a human body otherwise there is nothing and have a ball of a time and do not think too much cause in thinking we become mad and start questioning this world that does not exist.

for me its true that our brain has come over from a process of evolution and its still developing , but we aren’t really just physical beings . our source of existence is that energy which has created us and which we require to get charged.

very intresting …Whenever we say something is an illusion, we naturally come to the question, whose illusion? Who is perceiving this as an illusion?
There has to be someone conscious who is put into illusion. Without consciousness, we would have no experience at all — and that would mean no experience of reality or illusion. consciousness is not an illusion.Awareness put into action. That is what consciousness is for me,means being in touch! Touching the inner and outer, self and other. I’ve read this topic before in Quora and gitaDaily. I love to explore such topics..
