Can bacteria and viruses live together? If you have any doubt upon that, just look at my eyes. My poor eyes were the venue for their get-together.

Science says when viruses and bacteria stay together; they are just competing to take over your body. But I felt these guys were going to start a romantic relationship.. followed by a dance party.

Pinpointed shoes of those single celled microorganism were pricking all over the watery eyes during their disco.

But their dating didn’t last long.. may be the viruses were of bacteriophages type. So finally the show was taken over by viruses alone completely. When they were replicating in my eyes, I made myself away from everything around me as I don’t want another pair of eyes to host their festival.

I couldn’t ever imagine a small DNA or RNA enclosed by a protein shell is matured enough to place me in another isolated shell. I missed my world for many weeks.

So now after a long break I am reappearing. The infectious microorganisms have left the venue.

I am content that I didn’t let them spread.

And moreover the pricking pain gave me a different feel at a later stage, a catharsis for my mind.

The viruses attack you only if you had a hand to eye contact by hands or objects that are contaminated with the infectious virus. Hence never touch your eyes especially while being outside. Or even at home it’s a good practice to cultivate so that you won’t accidentally touch your eyes while being out too. Even while going to your ophthalmologist for a normal eye test, take special precautions like not to touch the table or other things kept there. We never know if a conjunctivitis patient entered their earlier.  Most probably that had happened to me too. And finally wash your hands if happened to have any contact with an infected person or items he or she uses.

Fasting! …If you are a health conscious person, I am quite sure that most of you would be already practicing the same on a periodic basis. Couple of days back I had an interaction with a naturopathist. He reminded me on the importance of fasting as a healing strategy.

Don’t give up your ‘five meals a day’ all of a sudden in the name of fasting even if you are a healthy person. It might collapse you being exhausted.  First of all give up your intermittent food and limit to “three meals a day”. Then face the challenge slowly, giving up one meal a day, then two and so on. And replace the missed meals place with fruits in your tummy. Once your body is tuned to sustain without food, have a water fasting day [have water alone] or fruit fasting day [have fruits alone].

Now what about regularizing this? Fast on a periodic basis, weekly, biweekly or monthly depending on your physical conditions.

And obviously if you are fasting regularly, your body is tuned for that and hence you can take fasting without much preparation.

After fasting don’t intake heavy food immediately. Again tune your tummy slowly, initially with some juice, rice soup or so and so. After a few hours you will be ready to have your usual meals.

I used to fast in the night once in a week for many years (can’t be strictly called as fasting, as I take some light food). And I used to get hungry then. But this time when I had taken the whole day fasting after proper preparatory steps, I didn’t feel to be hungry. Obviously I was tired by next day morning; still it was soothing experience and a proper rest time for my tummy.

Some days back, I laid eyes on a girl sitting in my office bus. The girl was sitting so straight that was really catching my eyes. You may be wondering what is unusual in that. Now just try to sit or stand in the right posture for at least ten minutes. If you are able to maintain your posture for the ten minutes, then you can skip further reading. Otherwise you will understand why that girl caught my attention with her right position. And after noticing her, I just looked at other people sitting in the bus. I could see none sitting so straight as she was. Majority of people were either sleeping or in a relaxed position, totally sunk into their chairs. I analysed myself – anyway I was not sleeping then 🙂 . But was slightly in a ‘C’ shaped posture. I tried to sit in correct posture and determined to maintain that posture. And after sometime I lost in thoughts and again found myself in ‘C’ shaped posture. Then I understood that it’s not a simple task to maintain a good posture. And that girl was maintaining her position till the end of her journey.

Later on I met her in meeting rooms, in some coffee shops, in the lobby etc. Everywhere she was maintaining her good posture, with her heads up reflecting her confidentiality. I don’t know much about her personality and all. But I ‘m quite sure that ‘I’ position instead of ‘C’ position reveals her INDIVIDUALITY.

Good posture is nothing more than keeping our body in proper alignment. In fact posture is far more than looking confident and graceful. Sitting or standing or walking in the right position ensures that our body functions adequately.

Now it’s our turn.. Just think whether we want to have an ‘I’ posture or ‘C’ posture

Please Note: I simply used the alphabets ‘I’ and ‘C’ just to indicate right and curved positions respectively. There is nothing beyond that. In fact spine is said to have an ‘S’ shape and definitely not ‘I’ shape. Hence before practicing, need adequate knowledge on the proper posture as a good posture does not mean keeping our spine fully straight. We will become exhausted when we simply try to maintain our body straight and it will damage our spine. Instead need to understand that ‘S’ shape and practice accordingly.

One of the ‘Ewww” things ..

But one of the distinct things in her life.

One of the things which is treated casually.

One of the things contaminating the health and nature.

I donno who invented Sanitary napkins. But definitely it created a great advancement in her life. It helps the women to be sanitized during her period time. It made her lives much easier. It has become a part of her life. But what about the used napkins? How long it could be hygienic..? Used napkins contain pathogens and microorganisms which is very very dangerous if not treated properly.

She uses and throws it in a dustbin or burns it or disposes it somewhere away from her home. She can’t be blamed as there are no other options with her. While we are living in a technologically advanced world, why are there no cost effective inventions to help her in the disposal of used napkins or tampons? After all who is bothered if she is affected with some Toxic shock syndrome with the usage of tampons?

The wrong disposal methods are having a huge impact on our health and environment. Still why is there least attention paid..? Every woman will think at least once before disposing it.  Definitely she is worried on the hands collecting the garbage if thrown in a dustbin.

What happens to these millions of toxic content in the napkins after disposal.. Why the authorities are least bothered on the plastic polymers released into the environment day by day? Definitely they are not fully biodegradable things.

Incineration is another solution. i.e burning under 800 degree C or even higher.  Still what about the harmful gases released via these incinerators or feminine hygiene disposal bin? And moreover do all these incinerators work under this expected high temperature?

I know, these are just open ended questions…..  Still hope for a solution.

What all we can do is just ensure that discarded products are self-contained, thoroughly wrapped in properly fitting biodegradable bags. Thus atleast safeguard the cleaning staff from pathogenic things by minimising the risk of contact with blood stained items.

The poor eyes..

How long they are working in a day.

What will be the all-day efficiency of eyes..? Just like a distribution transformer, they are forced to work in their entire life time.

We will rarely realize the eye strain or simply ignore it as our routine stuffs won’t allow us to give a break to our eyes.

Relax your eye muscles. Don’t make them fatigued leading to ache, vision issues. Treat it as your primary task as eyes are the windows to the world.

Do eye exercises

Wash eyes often

Get enough sleep

Drink plenty of water

Eat for good vision

Remember to blink

Follow 20-20-20 rule

Remove eye makeup at the end of day

Get your eyes examined regularly

Beauty standards… People spend a lot of time, effort and patience to keep up with the standards, the so called “standards” imposed by the different means including media. And more often end up with desperate results.

Do we girls, need to be slim, fair and tall to meet the definition of “beauty”? (And similarly with a different set of definition for boys too)

Why are we going behind these unrealistic expectations as asked by Rashmi, Do You Wish For A Perfect Body?

I am not totally against makeovers. But it becomes dangerously obsessive when we can’t even believe in our own body. Just love our body as it is.

I did an exercise last day. A simple exercise to know my daily time stamps.

Interestingly I observed that on working days I spend
• 25 % – for office
• 10 % – for myself
• 35 % – for family and remaining time for sleeping.

Then on holidays, I spend
• 15 % – for myself
• 50 % – for family and remaining time for sleeping.

It was interesting to observe that I spend a lot of time for sleeping and very little time for myself. Some change is required, especially in these two.

Every individual must have some time reserved for oneself.

Just check whether you are spending at least 10 minutes in a day to thank God for the beautiful life.

How bad it is if we cannot reserve at least 10 mnts with God?

How bad it is if we are not spending atleast half an hour for our health?

Yoga /meditation make our soul strong enough to keep the presence of mind in any adverse situations. A restless mind will actually make the situations much worse. Similarly if we don’t have a healthy body, our actions also will be limited.

Health of mind and body is the most important things in life with which we can achieve anything life.
