He went out, opened the door, and took the newspapers from the corridor. Wished someone jogging outside. Started reading the newspapers with a cup of coffee in his hands.
We are used to certain things. And we do them a kind of robotically as we are very much used to them. We know how to do it or when to do it. So we are just doing the same without looking around, without perceiving much from the surroundings.
There is a saying about one’s skill like ‘he can do it even while sleeping’. They are pointing to the expertise of that one. But will the environment be same always? What’s the point in doing something unconsciously, without having any control over the changed environment?
Even if the environment is not changed, do we really watch it consciously while doing the routine stuffs..?
She sits with her laptop the whole day. After a while, found her searching for the pen-drive everywhere in the home. Lately only she noticed that it was there upon her laptop table itself.
May be her eyes have seen that pen-stick lying just near to her. But she didn’t sense it at all. Or rather the impulse hasn’t reached her nervous system.
Be sensible and stop blaming on sense organs. Let the consciousness win over the sleepy mind.
Have you thought why our sense organs are not working in the way they are expected?
May be if that coherence happened with the senses, the world would have been crowded with Einsteins or Newtons. 😉
What if I say u r not sensible when u sing Jana gana mana ?? Strange.. Because it comes out naturally ,effortless ,flawless ..
Now this happens because of our repeated actions everyday..
Remember -> you sow an action you reap a habit..
That is why you people do it that way.. But yeah thought provoking post..
i wonder if you never felt this absence of sense…thumbs up
So true, we live out of habit at least most of our things in routine but absolute control is difficult that’s why the one who has it is superhuman. Wow, how do u write these posts, great observation n thinking Akhila ! 🙂
We should be always conscious towards our thoughts, and our actions, that is how our habits are formed and so our character…
Is it not the case?
I am not bothered about big big things where our consciousness might be working… but don’t you little affairs around us which is easily forgotten..
yeah thats very common in our life…we look for the things around which are right there…
so where is that connection missing.. the connection between brain and nervous system/sense organ?
yeah absolutely , both missed the connection….that is how is happens…
Nice post…consciously or even othereise, thought provoking…. thats our philosophical akhila..
thanks …is this philosophical hari..? don’t u feel that missing connection problem..?
Hari turned philisophical after sulking for a while…connection error
ha ha…
Haha manassilayo….
connection error
hahaha…earth fault, grounding somewhere, resolvable
need not be an earth fault.. might be a line to line fault..;)
Possible… can be repaired. Sometime
it is only when the jogger I meet everyday at that time I go out to get the newspaper not there, I feel the change! I stop to think where might he have been, is all good there may be i’ll take down their number tomorrow when I say hi.. 🙂
absentminded ?
so are really going out to wish the jogger or take the newspaper?
Both!
now this has become your routine.. and you are very much conscious to realize if any one of us are absent, i mean the jogger or me..now comeback to yourself…just have a deep analysis and check whether that consciousness is with you always.. if yes, hats off to you dear
thanks Dhiraj
🙂
I always felt these kind of stuffs in all the stuffs. And you’re right these things don’t make people genius like Newton but dumb like dumb, dumber and dumbest. And i’m that dumbest one if we start compare
you cant be the dumbest, when I am here…he he..
Sometimes you really write oven unthinkable things..good plot…
thanks a lot.. your words are really exciting my thoughts to wander everywhere..
Hope to read more of your odd visits..:-)
ha! medication. Preoccupation with thoughts of future and past. Time to get my senses and in the now game on 🙂
catch your senses.. don’t leave it ….
that’s it.. without them we are nothing…
Awesome! I love it!
Thanks
You’re welcome.
But we can get rid of it easily………
We can divide our sense of being largely into two categories: The Active and the Passive Modes! Reading Newspapers and sipping a coffee or two along is when we are engaged but passively engaged…..Hence we may forget what others tell you to do sometimes or something which we are searching despite it being near to you….But Active engagement is when we are engaged and actively engaged…..Like being in the middle of an exam….where you are really conscious about the time and the number of answers to complete, or an engrossing movie awaiting the revelation of the killer or a great cricket match..where the situation is really tight……
The Key lies in engaging actively with your environment………..
If you are actively involved in a particular job, nothing can make you absent minded. Does it imply that we should not be bothered on our surroundings while talking to a person? There are times we need to be fully conscious like exams.. And there are exceptions too like we can’t be focused fully on our environment
Yup! There can be exceptions….And those can happen when exceptions are not a problem for one………Let me share this with you:
I have a friend whose home is in Thanjavur and for whom visiting Brihadeeshwarar Temple is a routine….But what he says about his routine visits will startle you: He says when every day he steps into the sanctum he sees a different temple! He leaves discovering an unknown facet about it every single day!! And that is called as Carpe Diem….or Enjoying/ Living the Moment! But yes as you said it is upto us! We should take the blame than blame the sense organs…..
very true 🙂
Thanks
You dnt write anything new but always very near to our daily life.mind blowing.
Thanks junoon. Ya..some common points ..
My self snehlata.I have “junoon ” of poetry
Oh..okay..thank you snehalatha
Yes, we cannot see a thing unless we look at it.
Even if we look, is it getting recorded…
One’s mind does one thing at a time.
If we do our work with awareness then work becomes Meditation

Thank you so much. I really appreciate you for sensing my post in the best way
Thanks dear Akhila.
Yes, mind and matter both are infinite.
Thanks for your words. I liked the explanation. But have you felt the absent mindedness w.r.t your surroundings while involved with that routine stuffs
Yes I know exactly what you are talking about. All routine things are basically habits. Habits are in the subconscious. Whether you put them there or they were put there for you. Once a habit is in the subconscious it is on automatic. When you do your job over and over it becomes a habit and you can, like you said, do it in your sleep. The subconscious does not care if it is good or bad it just does it once you make it a habit. This is how the greatest musician and athletes do it. They practice over and over and over until it is set in the subconscious, then when they play it looks easy. Like it is automatic.
It is like your heart pumping or any other organ. The subconscious automatically does it for you without you thinking about it.
