Bahubali (The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III) is gearing up again to carry India’s dreams. The lunar mission, which was called off earlier due to a technical snag in the launch vehicle, is now rescheduled at 2:43 pm IST on Monday, July 22, 2019.
The countdown was progressing smoothly. Billions were eagerly waiting. With nearly 60 minutes to go there came an announcement to stop the count down. ISRO called off chandrayaan 2 launch on July 15, 2019. It was aborted due to technical reasons, a leak in the GSLV-Mk III’s cryogenic engine. Of course it was ‘only a measure of precaution, not failure’.
I wonder how pressurised would be the scientists during those moments when they called off the launch.
What a stubborn decision to stop the countdown clock at 56 minutes and 24 seconds!!
Aborting the mission was in all ways the right decision rather hurrying into a major disaster. The scientist didn’t take the least chance of making our dreams fall in Bay of Bengal.
Sometimes you will have to take stubborn decision to call off the undertaking despite all the consumed effort and cost. You must be courage enough to take that decision rather awaiting a total disaster. You must know when to quit. “Failure is not an option” they are just intermediate occurrences, focus on the ultimate success.
Chandrayaan 2 is going to have a soft landing on the Moon’s South Polar Region 54 days after lift-off, the very first space mission in history to have a softlanding on Moon’s South Polar Region
Totally made in India – All of the equipment involved in this second lunar mission have been designed and manufactured in India.
India’s first lunar mission, Chandrayaan 1 confirmed presence of water on moon in 2008. Likewise expecting chandraayan 2 to come up with discoveries that will benefit India as well as the entire humanity.
Wishing all the very best for chandraayan 2 .
Online registration can be done for witnessing the launch from viewer’s gallery at Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota

Liked the name you have given to the launch vehicle 🙂
Eagerly waiting for the launch and hope it will be a huge success 🙂
Thanks for sharing this timely post, Akhila 🙂
Thanks Sreejith for your kind words. I am much delighted though I feel a little late to post this.
Yes, awaiting the launch… wish if I could be there in the gallery..
(Bahubali.. not the name given by me.. it’s called so, maybe since it being a fatty rocket..)
I missed it 🙂
I noticed it only later, but read it here for the first time.
Anyway, we had a great launch and the orbiter is about to leave earth’s orbit in a few days 🙂
